St Helens Town Centre East and Fingerpost Neighbourhood Board members selected
A new board filled with community figures has been set up to support the transformation of St Helens Town Centre East and Fingerpost.
Article date: 7 October 2026
The Town Centre East and Fingerpost Neighbourhood Board has been created with the aim to secure £20million in funding for parts of St Helens Town Centre, Peasley Cross, Fingerpost, Parr and Sutton through the Government's Pride in Place programme over the next 10 years.
Making up the 11 strong board, following a public recruitment exercise to bring in local people to support the development, are faith, community, voluntary and business figures. They join local business leader Mike Denning who will chair the board with support from the MP, local politicians and strategic partners.
Welcoming the board members Mike Denning said: "We're really pleased to bring the team together who bring a great mix of skills and experiences, with a real connection to the communities that live in the areas which will benefit from the Pride in Place funding of £20million. This is a really exciting time for residents, and our focus is on driving forward projects that will make a difference to local people and the places where they live.
"As a board we will be preparing a 10-year Pride in Place Plan to secure the funding and then exploring with the community how that funding will be invested by identifying local priorities for the first four years of the funding. A huge part of that plan will be listening to you, the people in the area, and we want to hear your experiences of life in your area and how this fund could make a difference. We will be launching a community consultation and ways in which you can get involved soon."
