By-election date set for Haydock seat

Residents in the ward will be asked to choose one councillor who will represent them on St Helens Borough Council following a vacancy in the ward.

Candidates interested in standing have until 4pm on Friday, 29^th May to put themselves forward.

Voters in the ward have until Tuesday, 9^th June to register to vote for the election if they haven't already and those wanting to vote by post must apply for this by 5pm on Wednesday, 10^th June.

Anyone who will be voting in person at a polling station on the day needs to make sure they bring approved voter ID, and if they do not have this they can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate and the deadline to apply for this is 5pm, Wednesday, 17^th June.

For those who are unable to vote on the day but do not want a postal vote they can choose to opt for a proxy vote, where someone votes on your behalf, and the deadline to apply for this is also 5pm, Wednesday, 17^th June.
