St Helens Armed Forces Day to return to Victoria Park this June
St Helens Borough Council's hugely popular Armed Forces Day is set to return to the award-winning Victoria Park in Windle on Saturday 20 June.
Article date: 21 June 2026
Entry to the event is free and will begin with a parade featuring veterans, serving members of the Armed Forces and cadets, before a packed programme of entertainment gets underway, featuring a not-to-be-missed 69‑field gun Second World War artillery display.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of attractions throughout the day, including displays of classic cars, vintage buses and military vehicles, alongside a children's funfair - making this an affordable day out for families to enjoy. Live music will be provided by the award‑winning Valley Brass Band and Anna the Golden Age Songbird, who will perform a selection of well-known wartime hits from the bandstand.
Light refreshments will be available to purchase from the Friends of Victoria Park and a range of food vendors. Visitors are also encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the 14-hectare park which has achieved Green Flag status for ten consecutive years.
This year's event follows a special commemoration held in April to mark the centenary of the St Helens Cenotaph, which also saw the unveiling of a new memorial in Victoria Square recognising the vital contribution of local women during times of war and conflict.
St Helens Armed Forces Day will take place in Victoria Park on Saturday 20 June, from 11:00am-4:00pm.
