Donation of personal safety alarms helps support women's running groups across St Helens Borough
St Helens Borough Council has welcomed the donation of 100 personal safety alarms to women participating in local running groups, thanks to a generous social value contribution from EFT Group and their supply chain partner Gregson Electrical.
Article date: 23 March 2026
The alarms will be distributed through the council's Active Lives and Sports Development team as part of ongoing efforts to support women to feel confident and safe while being active in the community, particularly during the darker winter months.
EFT Group, which delivers a range of construction, electrical and systems contracts across the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, including within St Helens, facilitated the initiative through the EFT Foundation, the organisation's community‑impact arm.
Recognising the importance of the council's 2026 strategy to support women's running groups, EFT Systems reached out to their strategic supply chain partner Gregson Electrical, who kindly donated the alarms in line with the EFT Supply Chain Social Value Charter.
EFT Group continues to deliver social value across St Helens Borough, supporting community partners such as St Helens College, The World of Glass, and Hopes Therapy Dogs, demonstrating their commitment to the borough beyond contracted work.
Jordan Duggan, Director at EFT Group, said:
"The EFT Foundation are absolutely delighted to be supporting the St Helens Active Lives initiative, and we are really hoping that the alarms give peace of mind and some reassurance to the runners. We are really looking forward to working with Gemma and the team on their other fantastic events and giving back to the community that many of our staff live and work in."
Councillor Trisha Long, St Helens Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, said:
"Keeping women safe and supported while being active is a key priority for us. We are incredibly grateful to EFT Group and Gregson Electrical for this meaningful donation. It is a fantastic example of how social value commitments can deliver practical benefits that directly improve residents' wellbeing."
