Council supports new local arts exhibition showcasing transformation through light and movement
St Helens Borough Council is proud to support the opening of SHIFT, an immersive new exhibition curated and produced by Tobias Ferguson with Artist-Led St Helens. The exhibition forms a key part of a wider programme commissioned by St Helens Borough Council's Library Service to support local creatives in developing their artistic practice.
Article date: 10 December 2025
Running from 6-14 December 2025, SHIFT brings together more than twenty artists, designers and creative practitioners in a dynamic and sensory exploration of transformation. The exhibition is shaped around the circadian rhythm, moving between environments inspired by the contrasting energies of morning and night.
Visitors are invited to experience how light, atmosphere and movement shape their relationship with the artworks, offering a rich and evolving encounter with contemporary creativity.
This exhibition is one of several initiatives designed to nurture the borough's creative community, supporting artists to innovate, collaborate and share work with local audiences.
Delivered by Artist-Led St Helens and supported by Arts Council England, this project sits within the national Arts in Libraries initiative, with additional investment through Arts Council England's Place Partnership award. Further support has been provided by St Helens Borough Council and Kindred, who are hosting the exhibition in their Street and a Half venue.
Residents are encouraged to visit the exhibition and help spread the word so more people across St Helens can enjoy and engage with this vibrant celebration of artistic practice.
Councillor Sue Murphy MBE, Cabinet Member for Localities, Culture and Heritage, said:
"It's great to see that St Helens Borough Council's Arts in Libraries programme is able to support the development of artists through Artist-Led St Helens who are doing a brilliant job in the borough. I really look forward to visiting the exhibition and would encourage curious residents to see it too."
The exhibition is open to viewing for free between 6-14th December, 10am-6pm daily, at Street and a Half (SnA), 11 Haydock Street, St Helens, WA10 1DD.
