Stay well for the moments that matter: Get your flu vaccination
As the colder months approach, St Helens Borough Council is urging residents to protect themselves and their loved ones by getting the flu vaccine — a safe, effective way to stay well and enjoy the moments that matter most.

Article date: 7 October 2025
The flu vaccine is quick, free for eligible groups, and widely available through GPs and local pharmacies.
Eligible groups include:
- Over 65s
- Under 65s with underlying health conditions
- Children aged 2-3 (school-aged children are offered the vaccination in school)
- Pregnant people
Councillor Andy Bowden, St Helens Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health, said:
"Winter is a time for family, friends, and the little things that make life special — whether it's celebrating together, enjoying a day out, or simply relaxing with those you care about. But flu can strike unexpectedly and be more serious than many realise, especially for young children, older adults, pregnant people, and those with long-term health conditions. It also spreads easily in healthcare settings.
"The flu vaccine is one of the safest and most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you. It's been rigorously tested and is used every year to help prevent serious illness. By getting vaccinated, you're not just looking after your own health — you're helping to keep our community safe."
Health and social care employees may be offered the vaccine through their place of work. Eligible residents can also book directly with their GP or local pharmacy.
For added convenience, the Living Well Bus will be visiting locations across the borough throughout October, with no appointment needed. Upcoming visits include:
Foundry Wharf Car Park: Tuesday 14th October
Chester Lane Library Car Park: Monday 20th October
St Helens Town Centre, Church Street: Tuesday 21st October
Tesco Earlestown Car Park: Friday 31st October
