Annual suicide memorial event to take place this September
Bereaved families and friends of loved ones lost to suicide are encouraged to come together to attend an annual memorial event this September.

Article date: 1 September 2025
Organised by St Helens Borough Council in partnership with Saints Community Foundation, St Helens Wellbeing Service, Papyrus, Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide, Child Bereavement UK, Complete Music Solutions and Amparo, the event offers a compassionate and supportive space for anyone affected by suicide to come together, remember loved ones, and to find connection and comfort.
Now in its seventh year, the suicide memorial event is part of the council's Suicide Prevention Strategy, highlighting the council's ongoing commitment to raising awareness, providing support, and fostering hope in a bid to become a zero-suicide borough.
Encouraging any residents affected by suicide to attend, Councillor Andy Bowden, St Helens Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care & Health, said:
"Suicide is a tragedy that touches many families, leaving deep and lasting pain. This memorial event is a chance for our community to come together - to remember, to support one another, and to connect with those who can help. No one should have to face this alone."
This year's suicide memorial event - held in the same month as national Suicide Awareness Day (10 September -) will take place in St Helens Town Hall on the evening of Tuesday 30 September. Guests are asked to arrive at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start, with the event scheduled to conclude at 8:00pm.
Attendees are invited to bring a photo of their loved one to place at their table.
