The four‑year Community Pot programme will see £250,000 invested to support eligible community and not for profit organisations to deliver projects that benefit the community and align with the Neighbourhood Board's Regeneration Plan.

The first groups receiving funding are:

  • Cross Lane United Church
  • Domestic Abuse WA12
  • Friends of Newton Cemetery Group
  • Maximum Edge CIC
  • Newton Community Centre
  • Newton-le-Willows Cricket Club
  • Newton-le-Willows Tennis Club
  • Positive Life Workshops
  • Revive Wellness CIC
  • St John the Baptist

The recipients were selected following a highly competitive open application process which launched in June 2026. Applications were assessed against a range of criteria including alignment with the Neighbourhood Board's priority themes for investment, sustainability, project management and value for money.

Chris Hickey, chair of the Newton-le-Willows Neighbourhood Board said: "As a Board we are really proud to support these amazing community groups who already deliver so much for the residents of Newton-le-Willows. The Community Pot is an opportunity for us to sustain and expand these activities. This is another example of how Pride in Place funding is being used to deliver investment to the places that matter most, for the people of the town. I look forward to the projects taking shape over the coming months."

Councillor Jack Benyon, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Property and Planning at St Helens Borough Council said:"The groups being supported by the Newton-le-Willows Community Pot are great examples of the many community organisations operating across our Borough. It is important that the benefits of the Pride in Place funding are felt by all the residents of Newton-le-Willows and these projects will ensure many more members of the community are reached."

David Baines MP, Member of Parliament for St Helens North said: "It is fantastic to see Newton-le-Willows Neighbourhood Board's early delivery projects starting to come to fruition. The £20million Pride in Place funding from this government is all about empowering local people to improve their neighbourhoods and the Community Pot is a true example of this in action. I look forward to seeing how these projects progress to deliver meaningful, lasting change for residents. "
