The Mayor, Cllr Stephen Little, recently welcomed Jackson and parents Paul and Jen to the Mayor's Parlour to present his award.

Jackson, a pupil at Eccleston Mere Primary School, has raised an incredible £2,282 for Willowbrook Hospice, which provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people with life-limiting illnesses across the St Helens and Knowsley boroughs.

Setting out to raise £100, the fundraiser quickly gathered momentum with friends, family and supporters all helping to smash Jackson's original goal. The donation will help Willowbrook continue to provide vital care, comfort and support to local people and their families when they need it most.

In recognition of this remarkable achievement, Jackson was presented with the Mayor's Good Citizen Award, honouring the positive impact he has made in the local community.

Mayor of St Helens Borough, Councillor Stephen Little, said:

"Jackson is such a lovely boy. For his age his determination to help other people is a credit to him and his parents. Considering he wanted to raise just £100, he certainly encouraged a lot more, raising well over £2,000.

"It was an absolute pleasure to award Jackson with a Good Citizen Award. At such a young age he is an inspiration to us all."

Jackson was nominated for the award by Eccleston ward Councillor Michael Haw, who is also a Governor at Jackson's school.

Councillor Haw said:

"The Mayor and I were delighted to congratulate Jackson personally and thank him for supporting such an important local charity.

"Jackson is a credit to his family, his school and the wider St Helens community. His generosity and compassion are an inspiration, and he should be incredibly proud of all he has achieved."

Speaking about his fundraising success, Jackson said simply: "I just wanted to help Willowbrook help people."

Jackson's parents, Paul and Jen, added:

"We are extremely proud of Jackson. He is a very kind and caring boy and taking part in the Colour Run gave him a wonderful, fun way to do his bit for the community.

"As a family, we are so proud to support such an incredible cause. Willowbrook provided compassionate care for our family during a difficult time back in 2015, and we will never forget it.

"From holding up the 'big cheque' to visiting the Town Hall to meet the Mayor, Jackson has loved every minute of it. We hope this wonderful experience sets him on the road to helping others in the future."
