Picnic in the Park returns to St Helens for Mental Health Awareness Week
Residents are warmly invited to join Picnic in the Park, a free community event hosted by St Helens Wellbeing (CHCP), taking place on Thursday 14th May from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at the Green Flag award-winning Taylor Park.
Article date: 5 May 2026
Following the success of last year's event, which brought together members of the community in a relaxed and supportive environment, organisers are excited to build on that momentum in 2026. Last year's Picnic in the Park saw strong attendance, positive feedback from local families, and meaningful connections made between residents and support services—highlighting the importance of accessible, community-led wellbeing events.
Held in support of Mental Health Awareness Week, this year's theme, "Taking Action," encourages individuals and communities to come together, connect, and take positive steps toward improving mental wellbeing.
The event will once again feature a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere with a variety of local organisations offering support, resources, and activities. Attendees can meet and engage with services including St Helens Wellbeing, Dads Matters, Homestart, Standing Tall, and the Come Together Hub, Parents in Mind, and many more. All of which play a vital role in supporting the community.
Alongside these services, there will be live music and entertainment, creating a relaxed and enjoyable setting for all ages. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own picnic baskets, gather with friends and family, and make the most of the beautiful surroundings of Taylor Park.
This event aims to reduce stigma around mental health, promote available support, and inspire people to take meaningful action—whether that's reaching out for help, supporting others, or simply spending time connecting with the community.
