St Helens Borough Council is pleased to announce a comprehensive refurbishment and replacement programme for community noticeboards across the borough, helping to ensure residents have access to clear, up-to-date and inclusive local information in every ward.

Community Noticeboards

Article date: 26 January 2026

As well as displaying key information about the ward and how to access council services, community noticeboards can foster pride of place by connecting residents with community groups and events in their area.

The project will see the complete refurbishment or replacement of all existing community noticeboards, alongside the installation of three brand-new general noticeboards in wards that currently have none. In total, the programme covers:

  • 26 black general noticeboards
  • 26 green community noticeboards
  • Installation of 3 new black notice boards in wards without existing provision

As part of the improvements, new keys will be reissued to ward councillors who will help to manage access to the boards.

The project is being delivered with a £75,000 budget from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) funding. Work will start on Monday 26 January and is scheduled for completion by 31 March 2026.

Councillor Tracy Dickinson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Environmental Service, said:

"Community noticeboards play an important role in keeping people informed about what's happening locally. This investment will ensure residents in every ward have access to clear, well-maintained and up-to-date local information, while also supporting community groups to share non-commercial notices in a fair and inclusive way."
