The event will allow attendees to view newly released images illustrating how the Gamble Building will be brought back into full, sustainable public use for future generations in accordance with commitments made in the St Helens Borough Strategy. It will also provide an opportunity to meet representatives from St Helens Borough Council and the scheme's architects Donald Insall Associates.

The plans include a new fully accessible entrance foyer, a state-of-the-art St Helens Library, a purpose-built modern Archive facility, a Business Connect Service, engaging and inclusive Youth Hub as well as a new café and communal spaces, with flexible office spaces to the upper floors. The Gamble Building's historic architecture will be preserved while creating a modern, welcoming space for residents and visitors.

Work to progress the plans for the Gamble Building, which has already undergone around £1.2m of external repair works, are now underway with Liverpool City Region based Krol Corlett Construction appointed to deliver vital enabling works that include asbestos removal, removal of redundant equipment and outdated facilities, and the stripping of flooring and false ceilings to prepare the site for the main works.

Councillor Richard McCauley, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at St Helens Borough Council, said:

"As a Council, we made a commitment to bring the Gamble Building back to its former glory and to return it to the people of St Helens Borough, and extensive works have already taken place to repair and preserve this historic landmark. We didn't want to just reopen the doors, we want to make sure the building is fully accessible for all of our residents and represents an improvement on what we've had before. We are very ambitious for the Gamble as we know how important it is to our town. We're now excited to share our plans and vision for the living room of the Borough, where there is something for everyone to enjoy and feel proud of. I would encourage residents to join stakeholders on Friday 30 January to see these exciting plans and share your feedback."

The engagement event, which is free to attend and open to all members of the public, will take place at The World of Glass on Friday 30 January from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
