The Workforce Strategy - Thriving Together 2025-2028, builds on strong progress in recent years, and aims to build around three core themes which are: thriving today, future ready tomorrow, delivering for our place.

Councillor Keith Laird, Cabinet Member for People, Performance and IT said: "This strategy demonstrates our commitment to building a skilled, inclusive, and future-ready workforce that reflects our values and serves our community with integrity, innovation, and collaboration.

"It's a really important document to support our hardworking staff who are delivering more than 700 services across a wide range of areas, from supporting children and adults who need our care, delivering our ambitious regeneration programmes, to providing the every day services like recycling that we all rely on."

Key areas the strategy looks to develop includes strengthening leadership and preparing for future policy and legislation changes, to make sure the workforce remains future-ready and supported:

These include:

  • Thriving Today - Continue to develop and improve our employee experience throughout the lifecycle to maintain a positive work environment
  • Future Ready Tomorrow - Enhance our early careers offer to build a strong talent pipeline for the future and ensure that all employees are digitally confident
  • Delivering for our place - Develop the skills and competencies to support effective partnership working and collaboration across sectors

The strategy will be tailored to meet the wide range of needs that delivering such a broad range of services has for the various teams across the organisation and shaped with the workforce.
