The banners are being put up across every ward celebrating each community and backing the #LoveStHelens campaign, which aims to celebrate the great people, places and groups that make the borough a brilliant place to live.

Councillor Anthony Burns, Council Leader, said: "#LoveStHelens is about celebrating all that is good about St Helens, the people, the place, our proud history and ambitious future. Also recognising the many different, diverse communities that make our borough great. These new banners show that we our proud of St Helens Borough and recognise that our communities love where they live and recognise each area that makes up our home.

"We also wanted to celebrate our wider country and use the Union Flag on the design to mark our pride in our country as well as communities. While there has been much made in recent months over the use of the flag to cause division and hate, we want to use it as a way to bring all our communities together to recognise the opportunities that our borough gives and celebrate the good."
