St Helens Town Centre local election date declared

The election in the postponed St Helens Town Centre Ward will take place on Thursday, 25th June.

St Helens town hall

Residents in the ward will be asked to choose two councillors who will represent them on St Helens Borough Council. The election was postponed following the sad death of a candidate in the run up to the borough-wide elections, which took place in all other wards last week.

Candidates who had already put themselves forward to stand will automatically be put forward for this election. Anyone else interested in standing has until 4pm on Friday, 29th May to put themselves forward.

Voters in the ward have until Tuesday, 9th June to register to vote for the election if they haven't already. You can do so here: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Those wanting to vote by post must apply for this by 5pm on Wednesday, 10th June. You can do so here: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

Anyone who will be voting in person at a polling station on the day needs to make sure they bring approved voter ID, and if they do not have this they can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate and the deadline to apply for this is 5pm, Wednesday, 17th June. You can so here: www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate

For those who are unable to vote on the day but do not want a postal vote they can choose to opt for a proxy vote, where someone votes on your behalf, and the deadline to apply for this is also 5pm, Wednesday, 17th June. You can do so here: www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
