Get the Nation Learning, led by the Learning and Work Institute, highlights how adult learning benefits not just individuals, but also communities and the wider economy.

As part of local awareness, ACL - rated 'Good' by Ofsted - invited Mark Palethorpe, Chief Executive of St Helens Borough Council, and Councillor Kate Groucutt, Deputy Leader of St Helens Borough Council and Chair of the ACL Governing Body, to visit ACL's Park Road Centre where they met with learners and staff, called in on English as a second language (ESOL) and Functional Skills English sessions - and signed a pledge to show commitment to adult learning in St Helens.

Commenting on her visit, Councillor Groucutt said: "When adults learn, we see stronger communities, better job opportunities, improved wellbeing and a more resilient society. As the world changes and new skills are needed, it's more important than ever to make learning accessible to everyone.

"This was a brilliant opportunity to see firsthand the support residents get, helping them to build confidence, develop new skills and raise aspirations. We hope it inspires others to take that first step and join us. No matter your age or skill level - it's never too late to gain qualifications and you'll find a welcoming and inclusive environment where you can thrive.

"Whether you're aiming to gain skills to support your family, enhance your current abilities, or simply explore a new interest, we are here to help guide you in finding the perfect course to match your goals and interests."

ACL courses are open to adults aged 19+ living in the Liverpool City Region.

During the past year, ACL have had more than 1,000 enrolments on courses. Learners have been supported through a range of subjects, including English, maths, ESOL, digital skills, wellbeing, teaching assistant and Caring for Children.

Thinking about taking the steps to learn something new? Whether you want to boost your confidence, gain qualifications, or just try something different, now's the perfect time to get involved.
