Article date: 12 November 2025

This year's theme - 'Light Up the Square' - promises seasonal cheer for the whole family to enjoy.

St Helens kicks off the celebrations on Saturday 29 November with a packed programme in Church Square, including:

  • Artisan Christmas Market
  • Children's funfair
  • A festive film showing of The Snowman at Lucem House Community Cinema Plus+ (2:00pm)

  • Live performances from Valley Brass Band, Saints Angels Cheerleaders, and talented local musicians

The day continues with the BuzzHub Choir leading Christmas carols, before Father Christmas himself switches on the Christmas tree lights, followed by a lantern and lights display.

The magic continues in Earlestown the following weekend on Saturday 6 December, featuring:

  • A bustling Christmas Market
  • Children's funfair
  • Festive entertainment and music from Valley Brass Band, leading up to the Christmas tree lights switch-on.

St Helens Borough Council Leader, Anthony Burns, said:

"We know how important this time of year is to residents across our communities and how holding such events has a positive impact on town centre businesses that contribute to the local economy.

"This year's Christmas celebrations capture the true spirit of #LoveStHelens - bringing people together, creating memories, and showcasing the very best of our community. From the markets to the music and lantern displays, these events are about showcasing everything that makes our borough so special."

The St Helens town centre Christmas event will take place on Saturday 29 November from 10:00am-6:00pm with the Earlestown event taking place the following week on Saturday 7 December, also between 10:00am-6:00pm.
